To Rangers:
Tom McCarthy Cam Neely
To Bruins:
Tomas Sandstrom Dave Gagner Tony Granato Ulf Dahlen
Giving up a lot of youth and promise here, but Neely is and will continue to be a stud. All four of the guys going back to Boston fit the criteria for the NHL rerates and McCarthy is just an add on to my weak LW. Rangers gladly accept.

Bruins gladly accept this deal as well.... Gagner has always been a personal favorite....
Getting to the whole purpose behind the deal, this provides me with much needed youth that actually develops into solid players in the long run. Seeing as how Middleton is coming out of his prime, I have no real offensive youngster to build with in bean town. Between Gagner at C, Sandstrom taking over for Neely at RW and then Granato and Dahlen eventually becoming 2nd and 3rd line wingers, the Rangers definitely win the short term gain but the Bruins win out over the long haul. Very balanced trade that helps both clubs respectfully.

In addition, 2 NHL-based rerates will be allowed for each team each season. The players that are being rerated using the NHL-based system MUST be under the age of 25.

This trade is horrible for Boston then.
Cam Neely is a top 40 player in NHL history and could probably become a true superstar this offseason with an NHL rerate.
While what's coming back are middle range guys. The NHL rerate doens't help because he could already turn a garbage players like Bill Ranford or Craig Janney into good players.
Don't see the logic at all for the Bruins. And I don't understand the logic behind an NHL rerate to begin with.

FYI, Cam Neely doesnt hit 50 goals until he's 24 years old. Still another 3 years away. Of the guys coming back to Boston are Tomas Sandstrom who scores 40 in 87. Tony Granato scores 36 in 89. Dave Gagner has 78 points and Ulf Dahlen hits 50+ in 89. All of those take place before or in the same year as Neely. As it stands right now, Neely is only 76 OV with a piss poor DI which I am willing to take for the long run.
And I don't see why you're so against NHL rerates when there's only 2 of them for only players 25 and under. I'd say it works to give the lesser teams a chance to compete than to just have certain things like camps and HOPE that the sim is generous to them, otherwise the same teams will continue to be horrible year after year.

I'm not part of the trade committee
I just don't understand NHL rerates? So over 5 seasons I can just zap my top 10 players to their NHL self? Where is the challenge of developing a player?

The Logic is this... hold on to a super star RW that will probably end up a 90 OV player over his career.... or get 4 guys who can easily be in the low 80's range.... You might be a one line winner but I'm a depth GM. I'm not going to give away all my secrets and open my mentality for people to pick but each GM plays different styles.

It's for guys under 25... so unless you plan on tanking and having a team with an average age of 23 I don't see how your argument makes any sense.

They have to be 25 or younger.... which means congrats!!! Keith Crowder who scored 84 points this season in real life can't be NHL re-rated cause he's 26!!! YAY fuck me twice

When I say this season in real life I mean the season we're currently playing in which is the 86-87 season.... an NHL re-rate would pertain to that particular season that we're playing.

So if Pittsburgh signs prospect Rob Brown, and when he scores 115 points in 88' he will jump to 80 ov if Pittsburgh uses this rerate?

The commish will have to adjust accordingly as to not have 85OV rated 19 yearolds, but he did make a comment that one hit wonder players wouldn't have amazing re-rates, the amazing re-rates are for players like Hull, Neely, Lafontaine, Oates.... guys who went on to have success the entire duration of their careers. Kevin Stevens getting lucky and having 2 amazing seasons doesn't mean he qualifies to be the same rating as Jari Kurri, or Guy Lafleur
